It's that day of the year again. The depressing day after the most wonderful day of the year, Christmas Day. Yesterday was a magical, sparkling, surprising, funny, amazing, delicious day - a day of giving and celebrating the greatest Gift of all. And today.... The trash can is full to the brim of crumpled wrapping paper, the living room is crowded with gifts, the garbage disposal is overflowing with old gravy, the fridge is stuffed with leftovers, and our hearts are about to burst with gratitude and joy for all God (and our parents) have given us. Even though the lights on the Christmas tree are slowly going out, creeping up from bottom to top, I hope the lights in our faces and hearts will never go out. The light of joy and Jesus anyway, not the light of an iPad shining on your face as you watch a movie all night. Yesterday was the most magical day ever - I was so surprised! And today will be a wonderful day too, with Christmas break and all. But what happens when we go back to school? When the newness of all our presents slowly start to wear off and we are back in the boring humdrum of school? Will we become just like we were before, complaint and whiny and self centered? ........ I'll tell you this right now. NO! I won't let this happen! I vow to keep the spirit of Christmas and giving and gratitude and the light of Jesus shining in myself all year long. (Also I vow to keep all my New Years Resolutions too - new post coming later.) Anyway, do you wonder what I got? I'll show you! But I can't show you this one little item.... That I am typing on... Did you guess what it is yet? AN IPHONE 6!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?? If you just guessed an iPhone 6, you are correct! I would never have guessed i would get this awesome phone. I didn't even ask for it! What's better than that is, I even get a "real" plan! I was using an app to make all my calls and texts (like I ever call anyone anyway) but now I get an actual reliable Verizon phone plan! Whattttt?!?!? Thank you so much mom and dad! If you are reading this, anyway. All right, now let's get back to the other presents I got. A tripod! YAY! A microphone! (For the camera!) Yep, some really cute boots! FOUR hoodies and an AWESOME sweater! (That has a little flap on the back like a tuxedo!!) AND MY NEW FAVORITE MOVIE - WAR ROOM!! I am soo excited. I haven't watched it yet but I know it's amazing! I LOVE the movies the Kendrick brothers make! I would love to visit their church someday. I would also LOVE to make a movie someday too. I should start my own movie making company. Also I got a prayer devotional book to go with it! That you can actually write in! My dad is officially awesome! And don't forget these AMAZING mechanical pencils! Apparently my teacher gave everyone mechanical pencils on the last day of school... But I didn't get one! Aw man! Well, I have some better ones now anyway. I also got a scrapbook from Karen (this awesome lady!) and an Eiffel Tower decoration from my mom! By the way, Karen also gave me an awesome throw pillow and a birdcage! Hehehe. I also got a book that is really awesome. It's about speaking love. I can't wait to read it. Well that's most of my presents! Isn't that so weird? I got a bunch of stuff I didn't even ask for. After I had opened my hoodies and boots and book and Eiffel Tower and movie and devotional book, I thought all my presents were over!
I was stacking up all my presents so I could take a picture, but then dad and Megan came down with THREE more presents.. For yours truly! I was so excited and scared to open the big long one. It turned out to be a tripod! It goes up to 78 inches!! What??!? And the next little gift was a little microphone! For the camera! And the last one was a 32 gb. memory card!! Yes! We run out of space so fast while making videos. I needed it! Then, a long time later, after dinner and all the rest of the gifts and everything, Dad told me to sit down in the gift chair. That's the chair you sit in when you are going to open a present, by the way. So he put a little box in the chair that I was to open. I was really scared, like "are you sure this is for me?" But they made me open it, and they videoed it too with the camera on my new tripod! It was.... The IPHONE 6!! OH MY GOODNESS!! And my sister got an iPhone 5! I still can't believe it. But it's easier to believe now, when I realized that when Dad bought Mom a new phone, he gave me hers, and gave Megan mine. Oh okay. But STILL, I am SO excited! I finally get a real plan! And even though Christmas is over, we still get to enjoy almost everything that came with it! The leftovers, the presents, the joy, and everything else. And when the leftovers are gone and Christmas break is over, I'll still get to enjoy the gift of God's son too.
