The Cincinnati Homeschool Convention is always a highlight of my life. And this year was pretty awesome. Have you ever heard of Brett Harris, the co-author of Do Hard Things? (If you know me well, you probably have actually heard.) Along with Jaquelle Crowe, another teenage-published author, he started this amazing Young Writers Workshop, a Christian online community for writers including beginning writers through published. Because of this amazing helpfulness (including our own exclusive online website community way better than FB, videos from actual authors to help us along the journey of writing, blogging, publishing, etc) my life has taken a different course, reminding me of a dream I once dreamed but had forgotten about until now. A writer is what my heart truly longs to be, and since I am obviously obsessed with writing and am writing right now, I am a writer. I have learned so, so much over these few months and gained so many kindred spirits just over the internet.
Today... I had an exciting opportunity to meet someone also enrolled in the Young Writers Workshop! It was an amazing experience to happen upon each other at the homeschool convention and we connected instantly, although for both of us it felt unreal, like the imaginary people in our computer screens had popped out to life. We had a great conversation about books/people/role models only we knew about, a conversation I couldn't have with any other person except a fellow YWWer. It was an unimaginable time as we talked about the stories we had both been writing in our little notebooks we both carried around in our purses! There are people like me out there! Wow. Mind blown. I had a great day yep yo. I just thought I would let you faithful readers know about my current happinesses. Your crazy blogger person, Karissa Bird
